Frequently Asked Questions

What does "cold-pressed oil" actually mean?
Cold-pressed oil is made by crushing seeds, nuts or fruit with mechanical pressure alone — no heat, no chemical solvents, no refining. Because nothing is stripped away, the oil keeps the natural flavour, colour and aroma of the raw ingredient. Every I'm A Natural oil is cold-pressed this way and bottled in small batches.
Are your oils refined or unrefined?
Unrefined — all of them. Most supermarket oils are refined, bleached and deodorised into a neutral commodity. We leave ours raw, so the true character of each oil comes through. It's also why our oils look and taste so different from one another: pumpkin seed oil is deep green and nutty, sea buckthorn oil is vivid orange and tangy.
What does "single-ingredient" mean?
Every bottle is 100% one thing — just the oil named on the label. No seed-oil blends, no additives, no preservatives, no flavourings. One ingredient, pressed and bottled. That's the whole idea behind our mono-oil range.
Why glass bottles instead of plastic?
Glass doesn't leach anything into the oil, it protects flavour and freshness, and it lets you see the true colour and clarity of what you're buying — something unrefined oils are proud to show. It's also endlessly recyclable. Better for the oil, better for the planet.
Are your oils vegan and non-GMO?
Yes. Every oil in our range is plant-based, vegan and made from non-GMO ingredients. Because each bottle is single-ingredient, there's nothing else hiding inside — what's on the label is what's in the glass.
Where are your oils made?
Our oils are small-batch cold-pressed and bottled for Vivazon Ltd — invested in Ukraine, homed in the UK. Every order is picked and shipped from our UK warehouse.
Which oils are best for frying and high-heat cooking?
Reach for the high smoke point cooking oils: avocado oil, grapeseed oil, camelina seed oil and our high-oleic sunflower oil. They stay stable for frying, roasting and searing while keeping a clean taste.
Which oils are best for salad dressings and finishing?
The bold, aromatic ones: walnut oil, hazelnut oil, pumpkin seed oil and black sesame oil. Add them off the heat — over finished dishes, salads, soups or bread for dipping — so their toasted flavour isn't cooked away. A drizzle is all you need.
Which oils should I not heat?
The delicate ones: flaxseed oil, hemp seed oil and wheatgerm oil. High heat spoils their flavour and character, so use them cold — in dressings, dips and smoothies, or drizzled over finished dishes.
High-oleic vs ordinary sunflower oil — what's the difference?
High-oleic sunflower oil is pressed from a sunflower variety naturally higher in stable monounsaturated (oleic) fat. That gives it a higher smoke point and longer, cleaner performance in the pan than standard sunflower oil — with the same light, neutral flavour. It's our everyday all-rounder, available in 1-litre bottles and multipacks.
Is black seed oil the same as black cumin oil?
Yes — black seed oil, black cumin oil, kalonji oil and Nigella sativa oil are all names for the same oil, pressed from the seeds of the Nigella sativa plant. Ours is cold-pressed black seed oil, bottled raw and unrefined. It has a distinctive peppery, herbal intensity — a little goes a long way.
What's the difference between sesame oil and black sesame oil?
They're pressed from different seeds. Sesame oil from regular sesame seeds has a rich, nutty flavour classic in stir-fries and marinades. Black sesame oil comes from black sesame seeds and is deeper and more intensely toasted — a gourmet finishing oil rather than an everyday cooking one.
What is camelina oil?
Camelina — also called false flax or "gold of pleasure" — is an ancient European seed crop. Cold-pressed camelina seed oil has a mild, delicately nutty flavour, is naturally rich in omega-3, 6 and 9 and vitamin E, and unusually for an omega-3 oil it's stable enough for cooking. One of the most underrated oils in the UK kitchen.
Is your rosehip oil for eating or for skin?
Ours is edible, food-grade rosehip oil — made to be eaten. Most rosehip oil on the market is cosmetic-only, but our rosehip oil and rosehip seed oil are cold-pressed and bottled to culinary standard: raw, unrefined, with a smooth, mild flavour for dressings and drizzling.
Can you eat sea buckthorn oil?
Yes — ours is edible, food-grade sea buckthorn oil, cold-pressed from the berries and naturally high in vitamin C and B-complex vitamins. It's intensely concentrated with a bright, tangy berry flavour: 3–5 drops over salads, fish or avocado toast is all you need.
What does "food-grade" mean on your labels?
It means the oil is pressed, handled and bottled to be eaten — raw, unrefined and single-ingredient — not manufactured as a cosmetic. We flag it on oils like rosehip, sea buckthorn and food grade wheat germ oil, where much of what's sold elsewhere is cosmetic-only.
Which of your oils are rich in omega-3?
Flaxseed oil is one of the richest plant sources of omega-3, followed by hemp seed oil, camelina oil and walnut oil. Keep flax and hemp cold and unheated to enjoy them at their best; camelina is the heat-tolerant exception.
Which oils are rich in vitamin E?
Wheatgerm oil is one of the most concentrated natural food sources of vitamin E. Camelina and walnut oil are also naturally rich in vitamin E, as stated on their labels.
There's sediment or cloudiness in my bottle — is that a fault?
No — it's a quality signal. Unrefined, unfiltered oils naturally carry a little sediment, and some turn cloudy when cool. That's the raw ingredient showing, not a defect; refined oils only look "perfect" because they've been filtered and bleached. Give the bottle a gentle swirl before use.
How should I store cold-pressed oil?
Cool, dark and tightly sealed — away from the hob and direct sunlight. Light and heat are the enemies of unrefined oil. The glass bottle does part of the job; a cupboard does the rest.
Which oils should live in the fridge?
Once opened, the delicate omega-3 oils — flaxseed and hemp seed — are happiest in the fridge. Sturdier oils like sunflower, grapeseed and pumpkin seed are fine in a cool cupboard. Chilled oil can thicken or go cloudy; it clears again at room temperature.
How long does cold-pressed oil keep?
Check the best-before date printed on every bottle — it varies by oil. As a rule, sturdier oils like sunflower, walnut and pumpkin keep longest, while delicate omega-3 oils like flaxseed are best enjoyed within a few months of opening.
Where do you ship, and how long does delivery take?
We ship across the UK. Orders are picked and packed at our UK warehouse and delivered by Evri, typically arriving within 2–4 working days of dispatch.
What's your returns policy?
If you change your mind, you can cancel your order within 14 days of delivery in line with UK consumer law — just email hello@imanatural.co.uk with your order number and we'll talk you through the return. Bottles should be unopened and unused. If anything arrives damaged, get in touch and we'll put it right.
Can I buy your oils on Amazon?
Yes — I'm A Natural oils are also available on Amazon UK, where thousands of customers shop our range. You'll find the same cold-pressed, single-ingredient oils in the same glass bottles, wherever you prefer to buy.
Do you supply restaurants and businesses?
We do — our high-oleic sunflower oil in particular is popular with kitchens and food businesses. Visit our For Business page or email hello@imanatural.co.uk for wholesale enquiries.
An oil I want is out of stock — when will it be back?
Our mono-oils are pressed in small batches, so popular ones occasionally sell through between pressings. They come back with the next batch — email hello@imanatural.co.uk and we'll let you know when your oil returns.
